The real estate development firm Senn Resources AG is in the process of constructing a new building in Allschwil in the canton of Basel-Landschaft that from next summer onwards will be home to innovative startups and established companies. This was actually supposed to have been known as the GRID Campus of Collaboration. However, the name has now been changed, details of which can be found in a press release. The building will open its doors as the Switzerland Innovation Park Basel Area Main Campus in summer 2022.

Switzerland Innovation Park Basel Area, which is operated by the investment and innovation promotion agency Basel Area Business & Innovation, currently has four locations: Allschwil and Jura in addition to two sites in Basel. The new building under construction in Allschwil is to become the new headquarters from next year. “We are very proud that the new building will carry the name Switzerland Innovation Park Basel Area and at the same time will become its Main Campus”, comments Johannes Senn, CEO of Senn Resources, in the press release.

Switzerland Innovation Park Basel Area will also become a strategic partner and anchor tenant of the new innovation campus. It has agreed to rent and expand 6,000 square meters of the overall usable space of 50,000 square meters, where both startups and established companies will be invited to set up shop.

The Switzerland Innovation Park Basel Area is therefore making a contribution to consolidating the life sciences cluster in the Basel Area. After all, companies such as Johnson & Johnson and Idorsia are already based just a stone’s throw away from the new Main Campus in Allschwil. The Main Campus is set to house the Department of Biomedical Engineering of the University of Basel, CSEM, Basilea Pharmaceutica and Hamilton Bonaduz AG, among other enterprises.
