Who will seize the opportunity?
Basel, 21.05.2019
Innovative ideas that aim to improve the well-being and health of children and young people now have the ability to make a huge impact. The second round of the DayOne Accelerator funding programme from BaselArea.swiss will support health projects for children and young people with a focus on digital solutions. Start-ups as well as existing and newly established companies, including those from developing nations in particular, are invited to participate. In addition to the DayOne Accelerator, BaselArea.swiss also offers two other funding programmes.
Who can seize the opportunity and secure a spot in the DayOne Accelerator 2019/2020? The funding programme of BaselArea.swiss is on the hunt for innovative ideas that have the potential to improve the health of children and young people. It is seeking new approaches that combine digital technologies, expertise in the health sector and entrepreneurship. Start-ups as well as existing and newly established companies can now bid for the DayOne Accelerator. The programme also hopes to attract applications from companies in developing countries. The registration deadline is 26 July 2019. The detailed invitation can be found at:

The second round of the DayOne Accelerator consists of two phases: In the first phase, a jury and physicians from the University Children’s Hospital Basel will select 15 promising projects, which can then be presented to a professional audience at the big DayOne conference on 9 September 2019. The panel will then decide who will occupy the four available spots in the second phase. The projects that are selected will benefit from appealing support for a six-month period beginning in January 2020. In addition to financing of up to CHF 50,000, this also includes an offer for coaching and office space, as well as access to patients, experts, customers and other interest groups in the local ecosystem. In the ongoing first round of the DayOne Accelerator, three teams from South Korea, Canada and Basel have been working on further developing their companies in the local ecosystem since January 2019. They have honed their strategies, expanded their customer base and, in particular, stimulated their own entrepreneurial spirit. They are currently assessing opportunities for financial support and are beginning discussions with their main customers.
