Established headquarters in Basel to strengthen European presence

Life sciences

Country of origin

The global biopharmaceutical company, BeiGene has opened its new regional headquarters in Basel, Switzerland, serving as the European hub for its operations.

Basel is home to several of the world’s leading oncology companies and a vibrant biotech hub. Many global life sciences companies manage their clinical development operations and commercial activities from here.

Beigene, with offices and operations centres in Cambridge, Massachusetts and Beijing, China, has established a European organisation including commercial and clinical teams.

We all feel very comfortable when we come here, you have a beautiful relaxing river that runs through the city, and that's the way it felt for our organisation as we set up here. At every moment, we felt very comfortable, like we were flowing with a stream of things to get our organization going, and it's really been a pleasure and a delight, and refreshing.

John V. OylerCo-Founder, Chairman and CEO of BeiGene

Founded in 2010, BeiGene has a global team of over 8,000 employees across five continents.  The company focuses on the research and development of hematology-oncology and solid tumour-targeted therapies.

With its new presence in Basel, next to pharmaceutical giants already here as Novartis, Roche, J&J, Moderna, Bayer or Lonza, BeiGene sees opportunities for synergies and collaboration.  Basel Area Business & Innovation assisted BeiGene in evaluating and establishing its new site in Switzerland.

The biopharma industry is all about innovation, and innovation needs talented people.
That’s why we decided to set up our European headquarters in Basel.

Xiaobin Wu, Ph.D.President and Chief Operating Officer of BeiGene
