Foreign espionage and cyber incidents pose growing risks to Swiss businesses and research institutions.

Join us as experts from the Federal Intelligence Service and Basel-Landschaft Cantonal Police share insights, threats, and practical measures.

Swiss economy and research targeted by foreign actors

Swiss know-how and high-tech products are attracting interest not only from competing companies, but also from foreign governments. The procurement of products and technologies, as well as the gathering of information on companies abroad, count among the main tasks of many foreign intelligence services. Businesses and research institutes in Switzerland are increasingly targeted by espionage and proliferation, whereby unwanted data leaks and illegal procurement activities are often not detected or reported to the competent authorities.

With its awareness raising program Prophylax, the Federal Intelligence Service (FIS) aims to increase the resilience of the Swiss economy and research and to support companies and research institutes. In a short presentation the FIS gives an insight on current espionage threats and informs about preventive measures to better detect and avoid illegal activities.

The role of the police in cyber incidents – what you can expect from the session:

When a cyber incident occurs, the police are not the first port of call. People often do not believe the police have the necessary technical expertise and fear that sensitive information could fall into the wrong hands.

Lukas Wunderlin discusses the role of the police in a cyber incident. He outlines the police’s expertise and specialist knowledge in this area and shows how this can be used in proceedings to benefit not only private individuals, but also companies and organisations in particular.

Did you know that the police had in-depth skills in tracing cryptocurrencies and digital forensics?

Let yourself be surprised and see why involving the police is worthwhile for your organisation.
