Laboratories are undergoing a major transformation. While AI is accelerating data analysis, hypothesis generation and experimental design, the physical execution of experiments remains a bottleneck. Throughput, reproducibility and scalability are still constrained by fragmented workflows, manual processes and disconnected technologies. How do we move from digitally accelerated science to truly automated, high-throughput laboratories?

Advances in robotics, liquid handling, sensing and real-time monitoring are reshaping laboratory operations. At the same time, AI is enabling smarter workflow orchestration, adaptive experimentation and data-driven decision-making. Together, these trends are driving bioconvergence – the integration of biology, engineering and digital technologies – into unified platforms.

This Open Mic, in partnership with CSEM, brings together automation providers, pharma and AI startups to discuss how this shift is changing laboratory environments. Which processes are ready for automation, and where is human expertise still essential? What challenges remain around system integration, data quality, standardization and validation? And what will it take to build connected, scalable lab ecosystems?

Join us for a dynamic discussion on the future of laboratories and how AI, automation and bioconvergence can unlock the next generation of scientific discovery.

Participation is free; however, registration is required by Sept 17.
